1. Place (Pono). You and your opponent take turns placing 9 stones each on empty points. You play ivory and move first.
2. Move (Moveo). Once all stones are placed, slide a stone along a line to an adjacent empty point.
3. Fly (Volo). When you are down to 3 stones, you may jump to any empty point.
4. Mills. Three of your stones in a straight line form a mill — remove one enemy stone (stones inside a mill are safe unless no others remain).
5. Victory. Reduce your opponent to 2 stones, or block them so they cannot move.
